House rules & refunds
This is a funeral. Please behave accordingly.
What you are paying for
A contribution of $1 or more lets you submit one message, of up to 200 characters, to the RIP Internet book of condolences. If it is approved it appears on the public memorial wall, with the name you gave (or Anonymous), the amount you contributed and the date. Larger contributions are displayed more prominently. All prices are in US dollars. This is a novelty service, not a charity, and contributions are not donations.
Publication
Your message is published on the memorial wall as soon as your payment is confirmed. We may remove any message at any time if we judge it breaks these rules, and our decision is final.
What will not be published
- Hate speech, slurs or attacks on anyone for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality or disability, including coded symbols and numbers.
- Harassment, threats, or anything about a private individual.
- Sexual content, graphic violence, or encouragement of self-harm.
- Links, handles, email addresses, advertising or spam.
- Personal information, about you or anyone else.
- Anything unlawful, or that we judge would spoil the service for other mourners.
Slurs, profanity, links and HTML are refused before you pay. Anything else that breaks these rules is removed when we see it.
Refunds
- Contributions are not normally refundable, because your message is published straight away.
- If you change your mind, contact us within 14 days using the email on your Stripe receipt and we will remove your message and refund you in full.
- Messages that break these rules may be removed without a refund.
- Refunds usually take 5 to 10 working days to reach your account.
“Forever”
We intend to keep the memorial online for as long as the internet lasts, which, as the premise suggests, may not be long. We cannot promise the site will exist indefinitely.
Votes
Voting is free and anonymous. One vote per browser. Results and mourner counts are real numbers from our database and are not adjusted. Answers typed into “Something else” are private and may be used to add new options.
